True Reality Life: The Podcast – Episode 01 Blog Post
Welcome to True Reality Life
Hello friends! I’m so excited to welcome you to the first episode of True Reality Life: The Podcast. This space is for anyone looking to grow, heal, and find balance amidst the chaos of everyday life. Whether you’re navigating motherhood, mental health challenges, or just the stress of daily living—you’re in the right place.
From Blog to Podcast
A few years ago, I started a mental health blog, but keeping up with all the writing and editing became overwhelming. I realized that as someone who loves to talk and give advice, podcasting could be the perfect outlet. It allows me to speak directly from the heart without getting stuck in perfectionism. The blog will still be active, but now I can connect with you through both words and voice.
Breaking Through Perfectionism
This first episode was the hardest to record. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist with ADHD, I often struggle with either going all-in or getting completely stuck. Add in the fact that I’m currently seven months pregnant with a toddler, and it’s safe to say I’ve been drained. But I finally reached a point where I decided to let go of perfection and just start.
Perfectionism often holds us back from progress. I’ve spent years planning and dreaming about this podcast, but fear kept me from hitting record. Today, I’m choosing to embrace imperfection and start anyway. Because starting—even if messy—is better than never starting at all.
The Mission Behind True Reality Life
So what is True Reality Life all about? It’s about real, honest conversations on mental health. When you Google “mental health,” most results are about mental illness. But when you search “physical health,” you find diet tips, workout routines, and lifestyle advice.
Why is it acceptable to care for your physical health proactively, but people only focus on mental health if there’s a problem?
We need to shift the narrative. You don’t need a diagnosis to work on your mental wellness. Just like you don’t need diabetes to eat healthier, you don’t need anxiety or depression to benefit from mental health practices. Mental health is for everyone.
Why Listen to Me?
Let me introduce myself properly. I’m Amber—a registered nurse with a specialty in neuroscience. I originally studied medical neuroscience to better understand the science behind mental health. Later, I transitioned to nursing for more one-on-one interaction and hope to continue my education in psychology.
My passion for mental health stems from personal experience. I grew up with a mother who struggled with mental illness, which deeply impacted me from a young age. That journey sparked my desire to help others take control of their mental wellness.
Now, as a wife and mom to a toddler with another baby girl on the way, I’m continuing my own healing journey. Especially in motherhood, I’m learning how to rewrite the narrative and create a healthier dynamic for my daughters.
The Heart of This Podcast
This podcast will cover all aspects of mental health—motherhood, relationships, trauma, careers, and everything in between. I want this to be a space where we break the stigma, support one another, and find realistic ways to build mental resilience.
If there’s a topic you’d like me to cover or a challenge you’re facing, I’d love to hear from you. My goal is to create a supportive community where we can grow and heal together.
