Below you will find the literal copy and pasted transcript I created BEFORE recording the video. It is not perfect. It is not an actual blog “post” as my usual posts are. But here it is if you prefer reading to listening. If you prefer listening, click on the video below to watch along with the transcript, or watch my very FIRST podcast recording directly on Youtube! You can also click Here for an actual blog post covering the exact same material in an easy-to-read formatting.

True Reality Life: The Podcast Episode 01
Hello Friends!
Welcome to True Reality Life: The Podcast, where we talk about, learn, and grow from the true realities of the life around us.
If you are looking for ways to become a happier, healthier you admist the chaos going on in the world around you, you are in the right place! Thank you for being here with me to start our journey together.
Today, I am finally making our very first episode of this podcast that I have been fantasizing for weeks now… Well, maybe months…but I’m glad to finally be putting my thoughts to action here today with you.
So a few years ago, I started a blog about all things mental health and wellness, but I have struggled to keep up with all the typing and editing that comes along with a blog. I still plan to work on the blog along side this podcast, so if you are an advid reader rather than listener, feel free to go hop on the blog for the very same guidance and motivation you will find here today.
I am a huge talker and advice giver, so I thought, why not just talk into a microphone and let technology do the work for me!
Despite how much easier it will be for me to let my passions flow through the upcoming podcasts about all the things I want to share with you, this first podcast has been the hardest for me me develop.
As you will learn through our friendship together, I am a perfectionist at heart, but struggle with ADHD that is in direct conflict with perfectionism. I am an all or nothing girly. I either am going to go balls to the wall all in and deep clean everything in my house with hyperfocus, or I am going to get overwhelmed with all the things I need to get done and ultimately end up making zero progress at all while I scroll my phone or curl up with a book of plenty of distractions.
The latter option has been far easier here lately as I find myself 7 months pregnant with an almost 14 month old toddler that leaves me DRAINED just 1 hour after waking up…
I have thought about the millions of ways I could make this first episode and how I should introduce myself and my passion for mental health and always beat myself up saying the first episode has to be PERFECT, so it continued to get put off…
Until now. Because what the hell. Perfection is the killer of progress. And it often is my worst enemy. Like during interviews when they ask “What’s your greatest weakness” and you don’t want to give away anything super negative, but many people’s answer is “I’m a perfectionist.” And that is quite literally it with me when it comes to sharing my passion with the world.
Despite years and years of “planning” or “dreaming” about this podcast and blog becoming a reality and a success through consistency, it has been put off so much in fear of this exact podcast you are listening to.
But I am learning to accept that with all things new, growth comes with experience. Perfection is not a thing, and starting and failing is better than never starting at all.
So here we are. Welcome to my perfectly imperfect first episode of this mental health podcast. I hope I will look back on this exact video/audio/blog and see my growth in 5 years from now. This is my starting point, and thank you so much for being here to support me from the very beginning.
Here’s to us both starting on a journey of mental health and well-being together amidst the chaos that may surround us each and every day.
So let’s get on to the meat and potatoes of our very first epidsode!
What exactly is this podcast and blog all about and why should you even listen to my advice anyways??
This podcast is about all things mental health. When you search mental health in google, you will find several mental ILLNESSES… Yet when you search physical health, it will come up with ways to address your physical health including diets, exercise, and much more. You don’t immediately get bombarded with all the physical ailments that occur from lack of attention to your physical health. You don’t see diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and all the physical ILLNESSES that come from physical neglect. Ofcourse if you search for common physical illnesses, these will ofcourse appear, but why are the results of neglect the first thing that come up when searching about mental HEALTH.
This is exactly why there is this negative stigma surrounding mental health. If I ask people how they are working on their physical health, they will tell me “well I try to exercise, and eat healthier” even if they have no physical issue to begin with. They are simply trying to be the healathiest version of themselves to be happier and healthier for a longer life ahead of them. Yet if I ask people how they are working on their mental health, people will often get offended and say “I don’t have any mental health issues…”
WHY DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH ISSUE TO WORK ON YOUR MENTAL HEALTH, BUT YOU ARE OKAY WITH WORKING ON YOUR PHYSICAL HEALTH REGARDLESS.
You would be suprised just how connected physical and mental health are. You do not have to have diagnosed anxiety, depression, ADHD to need to work on your mental health… Just like you don’t have to have diabetes to choose to eat healthier…
If you eat healthier, you will reduce the risk of being diagnosed with diabetes down the road. Same goes for mental health… if you give attention to your mental health, it can drastically reduce the risk of being diagnosed with anxiety, depression, adhd. There are practices you can implement in your life to be happier and healthier mentally, emotionally, and ultimately physically by simply giving attention to your mental health and well being.
Join me in changing the stigma that mental health only pertains to people with mental illnesses. If you are alive and breathing and thinking, you NEED to stop neglecting your mental health. You wouldn’t want to rot away physically, so stop letting yourself rot away mentally! You are worth the fight! You deserve to be happy in this world that is the most unhappy statistically than ever before!
But why the heck should you even listen to me?!
Now that we’ve gotten the nitty gritty out of the way, Hi, my name is Amber and I am a registered nurse with a specialty in neuroscience. All things brain related. I actually initially went to college for medical neuroscience to learn more about mental health and well being on a scientific level. I ended up switching to nursing because I wanted to be more one-on-one with people. I plan on going back to school for psychology to continue to learn and grow in the future.
I love picking people’s brains and offering advice where I can. I would love to be a counselor, or better yet, a podcaster, if that’s even what you would call it to connect with and help the most people I can through my personal experiences and proven knowledge about mental health and well being.
I grew up with a mother who struggled with mental illness that affected her mental health on a daily basis. I had to learn and cope with her sturggles from a very young age and that is where my passion to help others develop practices to care for their mental health derived from. My trauma from childhood has helped to shape every aspect of my life and led me down the path I am here sharing iwth you today.
I am now living the dream as a wife and mother of two babies, one little girl, and another girl on the way! I never pictured myself as a girl mom, but I am learning so much from my relationship with my daughter already. It is just the beginning of a healing journey I am on to mend the broken mother-daughter relationship that became the “normal” to me growing up.
This being said, I have my fair share of struggles like everyone else. Despite what people may reveal on social media making it seem like life is so easy if you just do x, y, z. LIFE IS FRIGGIN HARD. It’s time to accept that reality that life is hard no matter what hand you were dealt. We all have our issues and hardships. And no one can compare to your experiences with your knowledge and skillset. It is HARD. So let it be hard. And let’s find ways to make it easier for you to cope and become a happier healthier you admist the hard.
Going forward, we will talk about all things mental health revolving around many topics. Motherhood, marriage, pregnancy, careers, passions, traumas, and so much more. If there is anything you want to discuss or need help navigating in your hardships of your reality, please always reach out to let me know! We would love to help in any way we can!
If you’ve stuck around this long, thank you so much for your love and support. I look forward to connecting with you soon as we embark on this journey together. Please remember to like and subscribe so you can stay updated on our new releases every week! You never know when a podcast will be speaking directly to you!
Thank you for being you and continuing the fight through the realities of life here with me on true reality life. See you next time! Bye for now! Not forever!
