Hello! My name is Amber, and I am your blog host!

Welcome to a blog all about the true realities of life.

The main focus of this blog will be mental health related to the truth of life that so many ignore. This ignorance can be intentional or unintentional. Explore the site to find which one you are!

Keep reading below to find out who I am as your blog host and what makes any of these words even worth your time!

I am Amber

My name is Amber and I am many things. I am a…

  • Writer
  • Business owner
  • Crafter
  • Fiancee
  • Mother-to-be
  • Mental Health Advocate
  • Nurse
  • Dog Mom

The full-time job that pays the bills is being a nurse. The full-time job that brings me the most joy is being a blogger and business owner. My small business can be found on Etsy at this time where I sell handmade home decor. Go check it out HERE.

Words that define me as a person include loving, caring, empathetic, intelligent, creative, and passionate to just name a few.

However, I am sure my soon-to-be full-time job as a mother will quickly take over as my favorite. I am due in February of 2024 to give birth to a baby girl, and I could not be more excited! I will dive deeper into my journey to motherhood another time.

Something I have been most passionate about for the majority of my 25 years of life is mental health. Let’s get into that a little more below.

Why Mental Health?

Mental health is invisible, but it’s a very real issue.

Coco Gauff

Mental health has meant a lot to me throughout my entire life as I grew up with a mother whose mental health had been neglected. A mother who suffers from bipolar depression, which requires much more attention to mental health and wellness than she was exhibiting. The lack of attention towards mental wellness created an environment for my sister and me that was far less than inspiring.

But I learned how NOT to live.

That being said, this upbringing pushed me to discover how I wanted to live my life and what that looked like for me. What kind of person did I want to be? What kind of spouse did I want to be? What kind of mother did I want to be one day?

Now What?

I went off to college without any idea of a career path. I just knew that I wanted to learn more about mental health and wellness. I wanted to know WHY some people seem so “okay” and “happy” in this world, and others are indifferent or completely miserable. Therefore, I decided on a major in neuroscience pre-med without any idea what exactly I wanted to do with it.

Consequently, I ended up overwhelming myself very quickly as I was working full-time as a full-time student all while trying to build a resume of leadership positions for upcoming medical school applications. Likewise, my fitness was very important to me. Despite actively working out physically to stay fit, my mental health was quickly neglected in the midst of all of the activities that became my life.

I had to make a difficult decision. I switched my major to nursing to lessen the burdens on my mental load from school while still fulfilling my inner desire to help people. Now it was time to decide how exactly to apply what I had already learned about the brain within my neuroscience major to advocate for mental health.

A Love for Writing

I had known from elementary school that I loved to write. Even when I didn’t know what to write, I would copy books and textbooks just to enjoy the art of writing. By the time I was in fourth and fifth grade, I had teachers telling me I was writing too much for the essays. This trend continued through college.

I would write regularly, whether it was my innermost thoughts or advice I wanted to remember.

Simultaneously, my passion for mental health was growing. As I got to know more people, I discovered their daily struggles. Struggles that I could help with. I then found myself counseling classmates regularly. I was giving advice about situations I had never been through. However, the majority of the time, my advice originated from analyzing the quality of their mental health. I began to realize common issues people were having, including myself.

For that reason, I made a decision to combine my love for writing with my love for mental health. I decided to start a mental health blog. If you are reading this today, thank you for being a part of my combined passions becoming a reality.

And here we are!

But Who Cares?

As you can tell, there was no mention of me having any degree in psychology or certifications in counseling. So why should you care about a word I’m saying?

In order to respect mine and your time, I do not write anything unless I have researched it. That being said, there are different opinions out there. I am subject to my own opinions. You are equally entitled to your own opinions as well. All of my advice is based upon personal experience either from myself or others. It is then up to you whether you choose to apply any recommendations within your life at all. Just like with any other aspect of your life, you make the final decisions.

I am merely looking to help a handful of people if I can. If you disagree with my methods, please share your thoughts respectfully. I am always looking for new ways to look at things, which only come from varying perspectives. However, if you utilize anything from my site and love/like it, I would love to hear about your journey!

I will later be including personal stories from my audience to support each post. Keep a look out for opportunities to share your story for a chance to be featured on the blog! You can always opt out to be anonymous upon request.

That’s all Folks!

Although I may say that’s all as a conclusion to this post, there is so much more to me! As with anyone, my life is far more complex than that!
