Journal Entry: November 29, 2023
What is nesting you may ask? Nesting is the part of pregnancy where a mother gets the natural instinct to prepare the home for her baby on the way. It’s quite literally like a mamma bird creating a nice fluffy nest for her baby birds. The same is true for any mom wanting to create a comfortable (AND CLEAN) space for her newborn to thrive in.
28 weeks and 3 days (roughly 7 months) is the starting point for me I guess. This past week, I was EXHAUSTED from work and just life in general. Every little thing felt like I just ran a 5k. I could have literally slept all day if I could get comfortable enough to do so. I did come close though :).
I guess it was my body’s way of preparing for this nesting season to begin. Last night I had the urge to write out my to-do list for today with hopes to at least conquer a few if not half of the list if my body would allow it. I was not going to beat myself up if I couldn’t get through the majority of the list. I wouldn’t have even been surprised if I didn’t wake up until 11 in the morning with how tired I’ve been.
HOWEVER, I woke up at 8ish this morning and jumped up and started on that list! And once I started, I couldn’t seem to stop even if I wanted to. There were just so many things I wanted to do, and I did them without second thought. I started off my day by completing the couple of Etsy orders that I had for my small business. I addressed all of my “save-the-date” invitations for my wedding that I’ve been meaning to do for a while now. I made myself some pumpkin pancakes to use the leftover pumpkin puree from a pumpkin bread I made last week. I paid the mortgage, fed the dogs, and went to the post office to drop off the orders. I came home and cleaned the camper that I am trying to sell. I went to the store to pick up a new mattress cover and some other organizational bins. And once I got home, the organizing began!
I had ordered a bunch of cute organizational bins on Amazon a few days ago based on measurements I had my fiancee take of my linen closet, the upstairs linen closet, and the nursery closet. It was perfect timing as I pulled into my neighborhood, a notification that my Amazon orders had been delivered and my fiancee was right around the corner to help me bring them in! I began organizing my bathroom and linen closet, cleaning out our junk drawer with cute little bins in there too. I went through and threw out most of our junk mail that had been piling up in the junk drawer (something I’ve also been meaning to do for a while now).
Here are just a few of the bins I ordered from Amazon! I bought two sets of grey baskets totaling 4 across on one shelf. I bought a matching set of one larger and two smaller baskets. These are being used to organize anything from medicine to hair products, sanitary products, etc. I also bought one large grey gradient basket to hold dirty towels on the floor of my linen closet. And of course I had to get the matching set of three as well, which I am using for clean bath towels, hand towels, and hair towels.
I then moved on to working on my sweet baby girl’s door sign, which I’ll post a picture of when it’s done. Have I told you, I am creating an Instagram account just for her! Judge me if you want, that’s fine, but I want to show her off to the world!
My fiancee and I then began working on our second coat of paint on the main walls of the nursery. Our nursery is three different colors! Two shades of pink and one small wall of olive green. We finished the second coat and trim on the main walls and went downstairs to eat dinner and finally relax while watching a show on Netflix. But of course I can’t sit still for the life of me, but getting up is too exhausting, so I settled for working on the baby blanket I am making for our baby girl. I will post a picture of that once finished too! So many exciting things coming up!
Stay tuned for more updates on my always-crazy life!
